In a surprising and controversial move, Wells Fargo has left customers associated with the adult industry high and dry by abruptly closing their accounts without explanation. The nationwide bank initiated this action in September 2022, impacting individuals earning through platforms like OnlyFans, as well as those in porn production and adult stores.
Unexplained Account Closures
Numerous Wells Fargo customers connected to the adult industry were blindsided as their accounts were summarily closed. The bank, without providing specific reasons, deemed these customers too risky to continue doing business with, leaving them bewildered and frustrated.
Adult entertainer Alana Evans shared her emotions of “sadness and anger” as Wells Fargo ended her 30-year banking relationship through a mailed letter. The letter vaguely cited risk management responsibilities as the basis for the decision, leaving Evans and others perplexed about the sudden shift.
Married couple Spike Irons and Sofie Marie, proprietors of YummyGirl Studios, a Las Vegas-based porn production company, faced a similar fate. Despite being a tax-paying business operating since 2016, Wells Fargo terminated their account, prompting Irons to question why they were now considered high-risk.
