The TikToker pulls the fixture off the shelf and takes the locked object from the back without unlocking it, saying waiting for staff is unnecessary. The footage also shows the customer returning the item to the shelf to avoid suspicion.
Some viewers laughed at the video, but others worried about legal repercussions. One TikTok user joked about ending up in a police car because of the shopper’s method. Critics said the shopper may lead retailers to install glass door displays and require assistance buttons.
