As the school year gains momentum, Utah families are encouraged to apply for reduced-price school meals.
The Utah State Board of Education has dispatched applications for free and reduced-price school meals to parents
Those already approved for food stamps, the food distribution program on Native American reservations, the family employment program, or specific Medicaid programs will be automatically eligible.
For others, eligibility will be determined based on income and household size. A family of four can qualify for reduced-price school meals with an annual salary of approximately $55,000, while free meals are available for families earning $39,000 a year or less.
In the Salt Lake City School District, twelve schools have been granted approval for the community eligibility provision program
This signifies that all students, regardless of family income, receive free breakfast and lunch, without the need for application. Families have the flexibility to apply for free and reduced-price school meals at any point throughout the academic year.
Furthermore, parents retain the option to appeal a decision if they are denied the free or reduced-price school meals benefit. It is essential for eligible families to seize this opportunity to secure reduced-price school meals for their children. Apply today to ensure every child has access to nutritious meals throughout the school year.
