Unlike other states, Utah provides SNAP benefits on three separate dates within a month.
Utah residents who have yet to receive their direct payments through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will have two more opportunities to access their food stamps
The specific date of direct payments varies depending on factors such as the recipient’s Social Security number, last name, case number, or account number. While many Utahans have already received their direct payments on July 5, two additional rounds of direct payments are scheduled for July 11 and July 15.
Currently, around 156,300 people, which accounts for approximately 5% of the state’s population, receive food stamps. On average, each household member receives monthly direct payments of $179. Moreover, an additional $211 is allocated for each additional member of the household.
In line with other states and the District of Columbia, SNAP beneficiaries in Utah receive their direct payments through a prepaid electronic benefit transfer (EBT) card
This card functions similarly to a debit card and can be used at various locations, including grocery stores, farmers’ markets, and select online retailers. Utah’s unique system of providing direct payments through SNAP offers residents more flexibility in accessing their food stamps.
With two upcoming direct payments dates in July, eligible individuals are encouraged to monitor their payment schedule closely and utilize the EBT card at authorized locations to obtain the necessary groceries and food items for themselves and their families.
