Update on the stimulus: The deadline to apply for direct payments from the Alaska Fund is next month

For the upcoming month, qualified Alaskans can apply for the Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend program for 2024.

Submissions for the program are being accepted through March 31st, both online and through paper forms. Every year, the program provides a direct payment to Alaskans depending on the mining revenue earned by the state in that particular year.

Among other conditions, candidates must not have a criminal record and plan to live in Alaska permanently in order to be eligible for the state program.

A citizen has to apply throughout the application period in order to receive a check from the program this year, even if they have previously earned payment.

Although the majority of citizens are required to apply between January and March, there are some exceptions that let residents apply after the usual deadline. On the website, you can also check the status of an application for the program as well as those exclusions.

Every year, eligible residents receive an alternate payment amount from the state’s Permanent Fund Dividend; in 2023, checks totaling $1,312 were delivered. October marked the start of the state’s distribution of such payments to qualified individuals, and citizens who have not yet received their payment are still being given them.

Regarding the 2023 payments, Commissioner Adam Crum of the Alaska Department of Revenue stated in a statement, “During the year, we received more than 8,000 additional applications than in 2022.” “The 2023 PFD will directly benefit Alaskans and contribute close to $1 billion to the state’s economy.”

The website of the Alaska Department of Revenue has more details regarding the state program, such as qualifying requirements.
