A universal basic income plan will give $400 to 140 qualified immigrant families in California every month. Those Qualified immigrant families are allowed to spend the money as they see appropriate.

Coachella California’s new basic income program will give eligible immigrant families a $400 monthly payment for 24 months. This program aims to help them fight economic hardship, such as the rising costs of daily goods. The total help they receive will be 9,600 dollars.
The financial aid from Coachella Immigrant Families Recovery Program is to support the immigrant families affected during COVID-19 Pandemic and haven’t received support or assistance from the state.
The program is a project by Coachella City together with Mission Asset Fund. They started getting applications last October 12, 2023. Coachella’s Mayor said they developed a comprehensive basic income program for immigrant families and chose the most vulnerable one.

Mandatory requirements and application deadline
- The applicant be at least 18 years old, with a valid ID issued by the government, and have a dependent or child living with them during 2022.
- The applicant must be a Coachella resident with an income below $75,000 or $150,000 with a tax return.
- Applications will end at 5:00 PM on November 11.
