TDEM Activates State Emergency Response Resources

Following the directives of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, the TDEM immediately activated state emergency response resources as severe weather alerts increased to ready the state for the worst, including the Texas Department of State Health Services and the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service.

With their emergency medical service personnel and ambulance buses, the Texas Department of State Health Services will be a great help in assisting the affected residents during emergencies and responding immediately to the operations in various areas.

TDEM also activated the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service to strengthen its resources; specifically, it will help provide necessary assistance in different operations, such as urban search and rescue and water rescue if the weather worsens.

TDEM Increases SOC’s Readiness Level

As part of the emergency response, TDEM requested several state agencies listed by the Office of the Texas Governor to report to the State Operations Center (SOC) after increasing the readiness level to Level II.

These immediate emergency preparations conducted by the local officials and TDEM will not prevent the severe weather, but they will lessen the casualties it will make, as long as the Texans also do their part of remaining aware and preparing themselves.
