Tarrant County Tax Assessor-Collector Wendy Burgess has issued a strong caution against mailing your Tarrant County property tax payments due to a rising wave of mail theft incidents in the area

Reports have indicated several instances where Tarrant County property taxpayers encountered difficulties due to checks not reaching their intended destinations through the postal system. To avoid such risks, Burgess strongly encourages residents to utilize the secure online payment platform or visit one of the tax office’s eight conveniently located branches across Tarrant County.

For those concerned about potential wait times at the branch, Burgess assures that online payment options offer a streamlined process. Furthermore, Tarrant County property taxpayers can utilize dedicated drop boxes within the tax office buildings, ensuring additional protection.

Payment flexibility is a hallmark of the Tarrant County property tax payment system

Electronic checks can be used without any extra charge, while debit or credit card payments are accepted with a minor convenience fee, imposed by the card company. Those who prefer phone transactions can dial 817-884-1100 during regular business hours.

Surprisingly, despite the convenience of digital payment options, a significant number of taxpayers still resort to mailing checks. In the past fiscal year, 38% of payments, totaling approximately $2.4 billion, were received in the form of physical checks.

As Tarrant County property tax bills are dispatched this month, Tarrant County residents are advised to opt for the secure, efficient payment methods recommended by Tarrant County Tax Assessor-Collector Wendy Burgess to ensure their payments are received without any issues.
