The Social Security Administration (SSA) first issued the Supplement Security Income (SSI) monthly payments in January 1974 to benefit low-income and eligible individuals.

SSI beneficiaries are set to receive their monthly payment, whereas the individual filers will get a $914 monthly payment, couples will receive a $1,371 monthly payment, and individuals living with and caring for SSI beneficiaries will receive a $458 monthly payment for May.

According to SSA, the monthly payment for May will be given to SSI beneficiaries on May 1, as reported by the Washington Examiner.

SSI Beneficiaries Receive Checks On the First Day of Every Month

The SSI beneficiaries expect 12 checks every year, sent out every first day of each month. However, if the first day of the month falls on a holiday or a weekend, the SSI beneficiaries will receive the monthly payment on the last day before the month.

This year, SSI beneficiaries will receive two monthly payments in the same month, including March, June, September, and December, because the first day of January, April, July, and October will fall on a weekend.
