The $725 million settlement from Facebook stemmed out from the legal action initiated by some of it users claiming that their personal data were being dispensed to a third-party source such as adman and information broker. User’s can claim if they fill out a form in a website created by meta that would directly give pay out to the users. The legal action began in 2018 when Cambridge Analytica stole user data to profile the possible voters. Meta denied accountability but in lieu of this scandal they agreed to settle monetarily.
