Senior Centers Assistance for Tax Applications
Qualifications and Financial Relief Criteria
In-person assistance is being given to senior centers residents on five specific dates throughout March to file their state property tax and rent rebate applications, as well as their state income taxes. According to LNP LancasterOnline, the state Department of Revenue’s initiative is designed to make the process easier for eligible individuals. To receive timely assistance at senior centers, those who are interested should call and schedule an appointment. Individuals who are older or have disabilities and a household income of less than $45,000 are required to apply for rent and property tax relief. To be qualified, an individual must be at least 65 years old, 18 years old for disabled individuals, or widows and widowers over the age of 50. Those who meet the requirements will receive much-needed financial assistance through the rebate amount, which is dependent on household income.

Required Documentation for State Income Tax Assistance
To receive assistance with state income taxes, it’s recommended that individuals bring relevant tax information, income statements, photo identification, and Social Security cards for themselves and their dependents. Besides the outreach days at senior centers and community centers, assistance is also available at Department of Revenue of Lancaster County and others district offices, Area Agencies on Aging, and state legislators’ offices, ensuring accessibility for all in need of support.
