PILOT Program Will Provide Direct Payments to Local Governments for Several Construction Projects

The Payment In Lieu Of Taxes Program or commonly called as the PILOT program aims to provide direct payments to several local governments, which will allow funding for construction projects, including sewer and water systems.

With the launching of the PILOT program, a town and a developer will reach an agreement where the developer will pay lower property taxes to start working on projects in the partner town instead of paying complete taxes.

In return for the agreement, the PILOT program will reportedly allow the local governments to receive their funds in direct payments for 30 years, which will be a great opportunity for the town to gain their losses in property taxes.
