Personal Data Breach at NextGen Leaks Electronically Stored Data of Almost 2,000 Lurie Children’s Hospital Patients
The personal data breach at NextGen reportedly leaked almost 2,000 electronically stored data of several Lurie Children’s Hospital patients as the company provides the health billing software used in the hospital, leading to the unexpected personal data breach reported.
With the personal data breach, the third-party company was informed that there were unidentified logins and activities between March 30 and April 14, and the hospital suspected them a personal data breach in the company’s system, wherein the patients’ data, including their names, addresses, and even social security numbers were access without authorization.
During the investigation about the personal data breach, the company initially denied the claims and said that patients’ data were not really accessed unauthorized and if it is true, they have no idea who has accessed their personal data, WTTW reported.
NextGen Offers Free Consultation and Other Services to Affected Individuals Following Alleged Personal Data Breach
Following the alleged personal data breach, NextGen offered free consultation and free identity monitoring services to affected individuals of the Lurie Children’s Hospital despite claims that there was no personal data breach that happened in their system.
Fortunately, the Lurie Children’s Hospital revealed that the hospital’s main system was not affected by the personal data breach that happened in NextGen’s system, Yahoo News reported.
