New Mexico set aside $15 million for taxpayers who failed to file their 2021 tax filings. You can begin applying for your share on Monday, June 12, 2023.

The cash will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. To apply, go to this link to the state’s Human Services Department website. The application deadline is 5:00 p.m. on June 23, though finances may be depleted before then.

Low-income New Mexico Families Can Apply For Relief Payments

Inflation has affected many low-income New Mexico families by increasing the costs of food, housing, and other daily necessities,” Kari Armijo, acting secretary of the New Mexico Human Services Department, stated in a press release. “These relief payments will help people across New Mexico who are struggling to feed, house, and care for their families.”

You will need the following to apply:

  • An NM driver’s license or individual taxpayer identification number or a social security number.
  • A New Mexico address (mailing or residence)
  • Direct deposit routing info, if possible

You do not need to apply for rebate cash if you submitted your 2021 tax returns. Your rebate will be issued automatically by the state. More information on that procedure can be found at this link.
