Governor Walz has been traveling across Minnesota to encourage Minnesotans to file for the New Child Tax Credit 2024
On Monday, Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy announced that Minnesota families have received $231 million through the new Child Tax Credit 2024, benefitting more than 180,000 children.
Families have been eligible for an average new Child Tax Credit 2024 of $1,322. Minnesota Governor Walz has visited sites in Alexandria, Duluth, and Saint Paul offering free tax preparation assistance and Child Tax Credit 2024 consultation and they will continue traveling the state to encourage Minnesotans to file for the new Child Tax Credit 2024.
The new Child Tax Credit 2024 of up to $1,750 per kid is estimated to cut child poverty by up to one-third in Minnesota. Nearly 300,000 families, including 513,000 children, are estimated to qualify for the new Child Tax Credit 2024.

Eligible Minnesotans can now claim the New Child Tax Credit 2024 of $1,750 per qualifying child, with no limit on the number of children claimed. You must file a 2023 individual income tax return to claim the New Child Tax Credit 2024.
