Government Officials expect nearly $2 billion of federal funds to strengthen broadband expansion across Pennsylvania.
Broadband Expansion Across Pennsylvania
The broadband expansion planning process is already in the works. On Wednesday, during Pennsylvania Broadband Summit in Lancaster, federal and state officials detailed how funds will be used and highlighted the necessity of public opinion.
Pennsylvania Cable and Telecommunications Foundation and the Broadband Communications Association of Pennsylvania have hosted the summit. The summit tackled broadband expansion and detailed that most federal money will not reach Pennsylvania until this summer.
Boosting broadband expansion is critical to do. National Telecommunications and Information Administration program officer said that the broadband expansion is challenging because if it is easy, the project has already finished. The telecommunications administration will send out $42 billion to states. Pennsylvania will have a large portion of that federal fund.
Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority is busy working on the preparations
Pam Frontito, manager of Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority stated that an estimated $1.6 billion will be given to Broadband Expansion in Pennsylvania. He added that they are busy working on the preparations.
Pennsylvania broadband expansion officials are confident that they won’t waste the funds.
