Good news for millions of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients—their March 2025 payment will be arriving earlier than usual! Instead of receiving their checks on March 1, beneficiaries can expect their direct deposit or paper check on February 28, 2025.
This change is happening because March 1 falls on a Saturday, and the Social Security Administration (SSA) doesn’t process payments on weekends. To ensure recipients get their money on time, the SSA is moving the disbursement date up to the last business day of February.
How Much Will You Get?
Thanks to a 2.5% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for 2025, here’s what eligible recipients can expect to receive:
- Individuals: $967 per month
- Couples: $1,450 per month
- Essential Persons: $484 per month
These payments provide critical financial assistance to low-income seniors, disabled individuals, and those with limited resources.
What This Means for You
Since the payment is coming a day early, that also means there will be no SSI payment in March. This happens anytime the first of the month falls on a weekend or holiday. Beneficiaries should plan ahead to make sure their budget covers the full month of March.
For those who receive Social Security retirement benefits or SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance), this change does not apply. SSI follows a unique payment schedule that is separate from other Social Security benefits.
Stay Updated on Your Payments
To make sure your benefits arrive smoothly, check your payment status online through the Social Security Administration’s website (SSA.gov) or sign up for direct deposit if you haven’t already.
With the cost of living rising, it’s important to stay informed about these payment dates to manage your budget effectively. Mark your calendar for February 28, 2025, and prepare accordingly since there will be no SSI payment in March.
