In response to the recent Supreme Court ruling on affirmative action, several universities are considering eliminating minority scholarships specifically designated for minority students
The University of Missouri system issued a statement on the same day the Supreme Court decision was announced, indicating that all state universities would cease awarding minority scholarships based on race or ethnicity. The statement acknowledged that a small number of programs and minority scholarships had previously used race as a factor, but affirmed that these practices would be terminated in compliance with the new legal standards established by the Supreme Court. Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey also sent a letter to universities on June 29, instructing them to end policies that employ “race-based standards.”
Similarly, the University of Kentucky released a statement confirming its adherence to the Supreme Court ruling. While the university is still reviewing the specifics of the decision, President Eli Capilouto expressed the institution’s commitment to complying with the law as described in the recent rulings.

Robin Vos, the Republican state Assembly Speaker, stated that legislation would be introduced in the fall to rectify discriminatory laws and effectuate the necessary repeals.
