The IRS is keen to locate 1.5 million qualified Americans who are allocated to receive a combined amount of $1.5 billion in IRS tax refunds. The taxpayers have only until July 17, 2023, to claim their IRS tax refund money.
American taxpayers have until July 17 to file their 2019 IRS tax return
The unclaimed IRS rebates are from taxpayers who didn’t file an IRS return for the tax year 2019. IRS extended the IRS tax return filing deadline to July 15, 2020, since the health emergency was announced.
Most Americans are required to file to claim their annual IRS tax return, but some taxpayers, especially those with workers with low-income aren’t required to do so. For example, for taxpayers who earn less than the required deduction, the IRS won’t need them to file for an IRS tax return.
But some Americans just missed the deadline due to the pandemic, according to IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel.
When should taxpayers have to file an IRS tax return? And what happens if I will miss the deadline for the application?
1. Taxpayers must apply for an IRS tax return postmarked by July 17, 2023.
2. Taxpayers have three years to file their IRS tax refunds. If the taxpayers don’t file within the deadline, the money will go to the government.
