How to submit a fresh DOLA grant application for temporary rental support

On Thursday, the Department of Local Affairs launched a new grant for temporary assistants.

For Coloradans who fulfill certain income requirements and additional qualifying criteria, or who are at risk of being evicted or displaced, the grant will offer $30 million in temporary housing assistance.

The introduction of our new rental support grant program demonstrates Colorado’s strong dedication to providing housing for Coloradans in difficult circumstances. Helping those in need without fault, our organization, community partners, and legislators responsibly use resources to provide a communal and lasting lifeline for people and families facing homelessness.

The Department’s dedication to building strong communities and making sure every Coloradan can get the security and assistance they need is reflected in this effort.

Criteria

  • Coloradans who meet the following qualifying requirements must also fill out a pre-application form:
  • Have a Colorado address
  • Maintain a current rental in the state of Colorado
  • Not earn more than eighty percent of the county’s median income
  • Be in danger of being evicted for several reasons
  • Rent dues
  • Obtaining an official request from the property owner for payment of rent
  • Insufficient funds to meet rental requirements
  • Have gone through a big life event that has made it difficult for them to pay their rent.

Procedure for Application

To be eligible for the grant, applicants must first submit a pre-application, which is open from February 15 to February 20. At this stage, DOLA representatives advise candidates to submit a copy of the court summons, which you can receive from the local court. If the grant money runs out, officials will launch the pre-application procedure on the fifteenth of every month.

Pre-applications will be chosen at random to guarantee equitable distribution of resources.

According to DOLA, grant money for temporary rental support must be used by June 30, 2024.
