On Monday afternoon, the working family tax credit expansion will take effect this year after lawmakers approved it and signed it into law by the Governor of Washington DC.
The application for a working family tax refund opened last February. The qualified applicants will receive the credit depending on their income level and how many children they have.

The Governor of Washington DC makes three changes to make the tax refund go further to qualified working families
The three administrative changes are:
- It permits married workers who file their taxes separately to be qualified for a refund.
- It permits retroactive refunds for up to three years.
- The Department of Revenue will require to submit to the lawmakers a program report on the working family tax credit expansion.
