Millions of Georgia residents could soon receive a rebate payment of up to 500 dollars from 6.6 billion dollars if they meet the standard criteria required. Georgia will be distributing this May the Surplus Tax Refund to qualified taxpayers.
Taxpayers must know the criteria given by the Georgia Department of Revenue to be qualified to claim the surplus tax refund.
Surplus Tax Refund Eligibility
- If you filed your income tax return for the 2021 and 2022 tax years last April 23, 2023.
- Have a tax liability for the 2021 tax year.
- You are a Georgia resident, non-resident, or part-year resident.

Rebates Amount from Surplus Tax Refund
Depending on your tax filing status and eligibility, you could receive the amount maximum of:
- 250$ for single and married filing separately.
- 375$ for the head of the household.
- 500$ for married filing joint.
Taxpayers who paid less tax may be refunded smaller rebates from Surplus Tax Refunds. If the taxpayer paid only 200$ tax, then her maximum Surplus Tax Refund is 200$ also.
