Food Stamp Changes Increase Age Requirement for Eligible Recipients Amidst Hunger Crisis
The food stamp changes increased the age requirement for eligible recipients from individuals aged 18 to 49 to 18 to 50, who will now be eligible for the benefits, following the newly signed debt ceiling bill, wherein the food stamp changes became effective on September 1 until next year.
According to a report published in Kris 6 News, the food stamp changes had affected the eligibility of recipients and required those aged 18 to 50 who don’t have children to work at least 80 hours every month as long as individuals were able to show proof about their work, they would still be eligible despite food stamp changes.
However, other officials believed that the food stamp changes would only cost the administration more because the number of eligible recipients for the benefits would also increase together with the food stamp changes, which would eventually increase how much they would spend in the program.
