Recipients of this program will receive their monthly payments through a debit card, distributed during an in-person presentation at El Monte city hall. Payments will typically be issued on the first day of each month. However, if a month begins on a Saturday or Sunday, the payment will be issued on the preceding Friday. As a result, the first payment will be sent on June 30, 2023, even though the program officially starts in July. The program is scheduled to last for one year, with recipients receiving a total of 12 payments. The final payment will be issued on Friday, May 31, 2024.
To be eligible for the program, applicants had to meet specific criteria
They must be single female heads of households residing in El Monte without a spouse or partner present. Additionally, they must have children under the age of 17, demonstrate income at or below the federal poverty line, prove a need for financial assistance due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and provide documentation such as proof of residency, income, school enrollment, and a government-issued identification card.
