Direct File pilot program launched by the IRS for the 2024 tax year

Whether you’re ready or not, tax season has arrived. Monday, January 29, marked the start of the 2024 tax season for the Internal Revenue Service. The federal organization is attempting to streamline the procedure for a large number of citizens. Together with other modifications to the Texas tax code, the adjustments consist of a new program that will be piloted in a number of states, including Texas.

In October, the Direct File pilot was revealed. Included in the program’s 9 income tax-free states are Alaska, Florida, New Hampshire, Nevada, South Dakota, Tennessee, Washington, and Wyoming. Texas is one of those states. The pilot initiative is being used by Arizona, California, Massachusetts, and New York to include their state taxes into the scheme.
