On Tuesday, President Biden and Congressional Leaders will meet at the White House to resume their talks about the debt limit for 2023. The nation is closer to its legal borrowing authority and most like reached a debt limit this year.

At their last meeting, the President was hopeful that an agreement be made with Republicans to evade an unexpected debt limit that could result in a financial disaster.

An increase in the debt limit will not authorize new state spending. This will only allow them to borrow and pay for what lawmakers have approved.
