Public Employees Credit Union (PECU) members will receive $500 to $3,000 as a privacy settlement for a data breach lawsuit.
$500 to $3,000 Settlement Following a Data Breach Lawsuit
PECU agreed to a privacy settlement after a data breach lawsuit was filed following reports of former and current members’ data being breached, including their financial accounts, addresses, social security numbers, and other important information.
During the data breach lawsuit, the credit union only focused on resolving the issues through settlement payments but never held itself accountable and never admitted to its lack of better security for the members’ accounts and important data.
According to The US Sun, PECU members who experienced losses in charges, bank fees, credit costs, and other ordinary losses will receive $500, while members who had unreimbursed monetary losses will get $2,500 as a settlement payment for the data breach lawsuit.
