A conservative group demanded to end the student-loan payment pause Thursday.
Conservative Group Calls for the Ongoing Student-Loan Payment Pause to End
A conservative group named Mackinac Center expressed their desire to end the ongoing student-loan payment pause and claimed that the borrowers should already start repaying their loans.
According to the conservative group, they noticed that several junior associates who should be repaying their loans are now earning six-figure salaries mainly because of the student-loan payment pause, which is expected to end in summer.
The conservative group also argued that the ongoing student-loan payment pause, which provided the students with debt relief, led to the reduction and limitation of financial incentives in public services work, Yahoo News reported.

Conservative Group Files Lawsuit Against Education Department
Before the demands, the conservative group already filed an initial lawsuit against the Education Department to end the ongoing student-loan payment pause without any extension and resume the payments.
Although the ongoing student-loan payment pause benefitted borrowers who are greatly affected by the pandemic, the conservative group claimed that the payment pause wasn’t entirely fair because there were other borrowers who were not affected financially.
The Education Department has not yet released any statement on the conservative group’s demand to end the student-loan payment pause.
