The huge social security system is still a topic of policy debate, even after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and President Joe Biden were successful in reaching a debt ceiling agreement that included stronger job requirements for SNAP users.
McCarthy remarked at a news conference following the House’s approval of the debt ceiling agreement, “Let’s get the last of the job requirements.”
As Lawmakers works to hash out a farm bill, a piece of essential legislation passed about every 5 years that addresses issues ranging from agriculture to conservation to nutrition policy, the well-known food assistance programme is expected to become a major source of conflict in the politically split House. It is uncertain if legislators will be willing to enact a new version of the measure once it expires on September 30 in its 2018 version.
