On Wednesday, the U.S. House passed its $78 billion for Child Tax Credit 2024 expansion, a bipartisan tax bill passed in which the measure attracted somewhat more Democrats than Republicans.
It’s unclear whether the Child Tax Credit 2024 bill can pass the Senate
Some members want changes and some GOP Senators are worried it would make President Joe Biden look better. The U.S. House voted last Wednesday night to pass a $78 billion tax package that includes the expanded Child Tax Credit 2024, sending it to the Senate, where its path is unclear.
The Republican-led U.S. House passed the bipartisan measure 357-70, using an immediate process that requires a two-thirds majority. The lawmakers received broad support from each party: 169 Republicans and 188 Democrats voted for the expanded Child Tax Credit 2024, while 47 Republicans and 23 Democrats voted against the expanded Child Tax Credit 2024.
But the Child Tax Credit 2024 bill does face opposition from a few corners, including liberal Democrats who object to the business tax breaks, right-wing Republicans who took issue with the Child Tax Credit 2024 policy, and New York GOP members who complained that it wouldn’t expand the $10,000 cap on federal deductions for local taxes.
