Cambridge RISE will expand a guaranteed income of $500 monthly to 2,000 low-income families.
Cambridge RISE Will Provide $500 Monthly Payments to 2,000 Eligible Families
Cambridge RISE was launched as a pilot program, which gave $500 monthly payments to 130 randomly single parents in 2021 to determine the impact it would have on several low-income families.
Following the end of the 18-month pilot of the Cambridge RISE, officials plan to expand the guaranteed income of $500 monthly to 2,000 low-income families for another 18 months through a new program, “Rise Up Cambridge,” especially after seeing the positive outcome of the pilot program.
The Cambridge RISE helped low-income families to pay their bills and make ends meet when it was first launched and will continue to provide relief to more beneficiaries, The Bay State Banner reported.

Cambridge RISE To Support 2,000 Low-Income Families For 18 Months
The Cambridge officials were motivated to continue and expand the Cambridge RISE from 130 beneficiaries to 2,000 low-income families who will receive $500 monthly using the $22 million in funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
The 2,000 low-income families who will be eligible with the Rise Up Cambridge guaranteed income must make below 250% of the poverty line or almost $46,000 annually, and lower for families with only two members.
The applications for the new guaranteed income after Cambridge RISE will start in June.
