California Governor Proposes Plan of Buying Power Generated by Carbon-Free Sources Over Fossil Fuels

California Governor Gavin Newsom proposed a plan of buying power generated by carbon-free sources rather than fossil fuels to prevent a series of blackouts amidst climate change.

According to the proposed plan, the California governor will seek to install clean energy from renewable sources, such as offshore wind and geothermal energy, as the said sources were cheaper to use for renewable energy projects yet cleaner energy.

The California governor planned to focus on developing energy out of geothermal power plants and offshore wind from the federal waters offshore state, which will result in carbon-free electricity, Washington Examiner reported.

California Governor Will Plan to Pursue Improving Electric Reliability Following Threats of Blackouts

Following the proposed plans, the California governor will pursue improving the electric reliability in the state after several threats of blackouts to solve the increasing demand for electricity amidst the threats of climate change.

Aside from improving electric reliability in California, the California governor also included in his plans to reach 100% clean energy for the next few years by targeting newer and cleaner power to be generated by carbon-free sources in the state.
