This year, the Back-to-School Sales Tax holiday will occur on the third full weekend of July, continuing a tradition that started seven years ago.

Alabama residents can rejoice as the highly anticipated Back-to-School Sales Tax holiday makes its 18th annual appearance from July 21 to July 23

During the designated period, starting from 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 21, until midnight on Sunday, July 23, the state of Alabama will exempt its 4% Back-to-School Sales Tax on school-related supplies and clothing. Not only that but over 325 cities and counties across Alabama will also waive their local taxes, including Cullman County and its municipalities.

Shoppers can take advantage of this Back-to-School Sales Tax relief on a variety of items. Exempt products include clothing priced at $100 or less per item, school supplies valued at $50 or less per item, books costing $30 or less per book, and tablets, laptops, computers, and printers with a selling price of $750 or less.

The Back-to-School Sales Tax holiday aims to benefit consumers by providing them with an opportunity to save money while simultaneously boosting the local economy. It particularly supports businesses specializing in the sale of covered items like shoes, children’s apparel, school supplies, books, and computers.
