The City of Boulder provides Food Tax rebates to help pay residents with lower incomes for the city sales tax they pay on food.
The City of Boulder will open food tax rebate applications for lower-income residents starting March 1, 2024
The Food Tax Rebates 2024 application period opens on March 1, 2024. The Food Tax Rebates this year will be $104 for individuals and $318 for families.

- Applicants must qualify for financial eligibility guidelines.
- Applicants must have lived in Boulder for the entire 2023.
- Applications for Food Tax Rebates will be available on March 1, 2024.
- Who is eligible to receive Food Tax Rebates 2024?
- Should meet the qualifications above and be age 62 or over for the entire 2023; or
- a person with a disability; or
- a family with children under 18 years of age in the household for the entire 2023 calendar year.
City of Boulder residents who do not have permanent housing are eligible for the Food Tax refund and can meet the residency requirement by providing documentation that they are getting services from a city-recognized homelessness services agency.

Lower-income residents eligible for Food Tax rebates
Individuals who make $46,500 or less can apply to receive a food tax rebate set at $104. A family of four that makes $66,400 or less can apply for a food tax rebate set at $318.
