Planned Parenthood may be required to pay the state of Texas and an unnamed whistleblower over one billion dollars in Medicaid payouts and fines as a result of a lawsuit that was presented in a Texas federal court on Tuesday.

According to the group, if the state won the case, all Texas affiliates would go bankrupt and the state’s surviving Planned Parenthood facilities would have to close.

According to the organization, “Planned Parenthood’s closure is the only purpose of this lawsuit.”

The state has been attempting to drop Planned Parenthood into its Medicaid program for a while, which is what brought to the lawsuit. It was submitted in Amarillo, a city without a Planned Parenthood clinic, but executing so guaranteed that District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk was going to hear the case.

Previously this year, Kacsmaryk—appointed by the late President Trump—revoked the permission for the abortion drug mifepristone.
