More than 700,000 families in Michigan are qualified to receive these Earned Income Tax Credit payments due to two sets of criteria.
Earned Income Tax Credit Checks averaging $550 have started to hit Michigan families this week
According to the state of Michigan, these Earned Income Tax Credit checks will be part of a tax rebate following $1 billion in tax cuts that were signed into law last year.
The Earned Income Tax Credit in Michigan, which is a Working Families Tax Credit for lower-income households, increased from 6% to 30%.
This Earned Income Tax Credit was applied retroactively to 2022 taxpayers who could have a check from last year’s tax return as well as the full 30% for this year. Eligible taxpayers will therefore get more money back on taxes they have already paid.
There are two requirements for the people of Michigan to be eligible to receive their Earned Income Tax Credit checks
The Earned Income Tax Credit check that workers will receive will vary from person to person but the average will be $550. This amount can change based on several factors like income, filing status, number of qualifying children, and disability.
The qualifications are that Michigan residents must have an earned income, which is taxable earnings they get through work.
