$500 monthly payments for one year will be given by the El Monte, California’s Guaranteed Basic Income program (GBI) to those 125 randomly selected poverty households.

The Guaranteed Basic Income program (GBI) is meant for those low=income households who where affected by the pandemic’s economic fallouts.
The funds were made possible because of the American Rescue Act. There are 2,500 people who applied for the program’s lottery selection and the deadline would be on April 15. The payment will be given starting on June 1. Successful applicants will be notified by their email. People who qualifies for the specific guaranteed income program are those recipients must be El Monte residents and are female heads of households.
They must also be in the federal poverty line and show financial problems due to the pandemic. The poverty line of a household family must be under $19,720 only and must have at least dependent living with them under the age of 18.

$500 Monthly ‘Lottery’ Direct Payments: Are You Eligible?
Once chosen receiver will have the eligibility to receive $500 every month for one year. Low income residents only have until April 15 to apply for the second round of GBI program and they will choose 80 applicants to receive $500 a month for one year. This program is partnered with the United Way. Those 1st batch of family benefactors will receive their payment on May 1.
