In a recent study examining the economic conditions of small towns across the country, three communities, namely The Gardens at Westlake, Perkins, and Falls Chase, have emerged as areas facing significant challenges. The study analyzed various factors including population, median home value, and median income to determine the economic standing of these towns.
The Gardens at Westlake
The Gardens at Westlake, with a population of just 47 residents, retained its position as the most economically struggling town for the second consecutive year. The median home value in the town was reported to be a meager $80,000, making it the worst among the analyzed towns. Furthermore, the median income of $25,259 ranked it second-worst in terms of income levels.
Perkins
Perkins, home to a larger population of 1,114 people, maintained its ranking as the second most economically challenged town. While the median home value was slightly higher at $199,700, it still ranked among the 26th worst in the study. The town’s median income of $44,495 positioned it as the 18th worst in terms of income levels.
Falls Chase
Falls Chase, with a population of 719 residents, also experienced economic difficulties, holding onto its third-place ranking. It shared the same median home value as Perkins at $199,700, which was the 26th worst among the towns surveyed. The median income in Falls Chase mirrored that of Perkins, with $44,495, placing it in the 18th worst category.
