Eligible Taxpayers to Receive Unclaimed Tax Refund for 2019 Earnings

The estimated unclaimed tax refund for 2019 earnings is $1.5 billion, wherein eligible taxpayers will be entitled to approximately $1,006 if they successfully filed their taxes in 2019.

The unclaimed tax refund occurred when the COVID-19 pandemic coincided with the tax season during 2020, leading to the extension of the tax filing for the year 2019 until July 2023, and those individuals who will fail to file for the tax refund will lose their chance to receive the cash.

Alaska reportedly had the most taxpayers who have 2019 unclaimed tax refund, and several states from the Northeastern part of the United States are included in the list of states with the highest number of taxpayers with unclaimed tax refund.
