The Snow Girl is a six-episode Spanish-language television series with the original title La Chica de Nieve. Milena Smita is the reporter on the show who investigates the disappearance of five-year-old Amaya at a Malaga Christmas parade. He has received numerous honors for his works already, and it won’t be long before proposals to adapt them start to come in. The story comes from a fictional book and is not based on actual events, yet seeming to be authentic. Therefore, despite its accurate portrayal of a terrible incident, The Snow Girl is not based on a factual tale.

What book is The Snow Girl based on?

Castillo has admitted that the inspiration for The Snow Girl struck him while he was out for a stroll with his wife and little daughter. As he let go of her hand, he experienced a moment of fear as he imagined the terror of something bad happening to his daughter. The novel La chica de nieve, which would be transformed into The Snow Girl, was written as a result of this moment of utter existential horror.
