This created the foundation for all contemporary emo rap. He greatly popularised and broadened the emo-rap sound, inspiring many well-known musicians like Lil Peep, Lil Tracy, XXXTentacion, and Juice WRLD. Ghostemane: Is it trap metal?
Without a doubt, Eric is one of us despite being at the forefront of what has been labeled trap metal, blending beats and bars with industrial noise and angry vocals. He is bringing 90s metal culture into the 2020s, repackaging it for a new generation, and erasing its borders by fusing the sounds of his idol, Trent Reznor, with the aesthetics of Marilyn Manson and a love of hip-hop. He has assisted fellow genre-defying artists Code Orange, received mentoring from Clown of Slipknot, and collaborated on recordings with renowned producer Ross Robinson. He is, in a nutshell, this decade’s misfit king.
