Boston Red Sox’s first baseman Eric John Hosmer (born October 24, 1989) is an American professional baseball player (MLB). From 2011 to 2017, he played for the Kansas City Royals, and from 2018 to 2022, he played for the San Diego Padres.
Career
Scouts regarded Hosmer as a “left-handed hitter with raw power” after he graduated from Florida’s American Heritage High School. Third overall in the 2008 MLB draught, he received a $6 million signing bonus from the Royals. He made his MLB debut in the 2011 season after a successful stint in the minor leagues. At the end of the 2011 season, he has voted the third best rookie in the league, thanks to a.293 average and 19 home runs in 128 games.
From 2013 to 2015, Hosmer was the recipient of a string of Gold Glove Awards, and in 2017, he added the Silver Slugger Award to his collection. A member of the 2015 World Series champions, he was named the game’s most valuable player (MVP) in 2016. Hosmer became a free agent after the 2017 season and signed an eight-year deal with the Padres.

Kacie McDonnell
