Entrepreneur Elon Reeve Musk FRS (born June 28, 1971) is an investor, philanthropist, and business entrepreneur. He’s the brains behind SpaceX, Tesla, Inc., The Boring Company, Neuralink, and OpenAI, and he’s an angel investor, CEO, and chief engineer at SpaceX. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index and the Forbes, real-time billionaires list, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has an estimated net worth of roughly US$265 billion as of May 2022.
In Pretoria, South Africa, where he was raised, Musk was born to white South African parents. When he was 17, he moved to Canada and became a Canadian citizen through his mother, who was born in Canada. In his first year of college, he attended Queen’s University before transferring to the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a double major in economics and physics. At Stanford University in 1995, he was accepted into the business program but instead decided to start his own online software company with his brother Kimbal, who was also accepted. Compaq paid $307 million for the firm in 1999. As part of the X.com online bank, which merged with Confinity in 2000 to establish PayPal, Musk founded X.com in the same year. In 2002, eBay paid $1.5 billion for the company.
