Christian Jackson McCaffrey (born June 7, 1996) is an NFL running back for the Carolina Panthers (NFL). He was picked eighth overall in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Panthers after playing college football at Stanford.
McCaffrey was voted AP College Football Player of the Year as a sophomore in 2015 and was a Heisman Trophy nominee. With 3,864 all-purpose yards in a season, he owns the NCAA record for most all-purpose yards in a season. McCaffrey boasts multiple NFL and Panthers team records, and he is one of just three players in NFL history to carry for 1,000 yards and catch 1,000 yards in the same season, which he did in 2019.

Christian McCaffrey was invited to the NFL Combine as one of the top running back prospects in the draught, and he performed in all of the necessary combine drills as well as positional drills. He participated in Stanford’s Pro Day, but was content with his combined results and merely completed positional drills for NFL scouts and representatives.
The majority of NFL experts and commentators predicted McCaffrey to be drafted in the first round. Sports Illustrated rated him as the third-best running back in the draught, Pro Football Focus rated him fourth best, while NFLDraftScout.com and ESPN rated him second best.
