Last week, viewers were given a little respite from Thorfinn (Yuto Uemura) to learn more about Canute’s recent activities (voiced by Kensho Ono). He had always wanted to rule England, and it appears he has now succeeded. It all depends on what he will do with the power now that he has it. It’s unlikely that Canute’s new status will help him in any way, given that he and Thorfinn weren’t exactly on the greatest of terms when they were last seen together. We as viewers can still have some faith that the former ally will change their mind.
Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 6 Recap
Thorfinn and Einar are hard at work removing a stump from the ground as the episode begins. Thorfinn suggests trying a different approach after struggling for a while, but it still isn’t moving. Einar questions why they may borrow a horse for some things but not for working the field because he knows it would be much simpler with a horse. He submits one more request to borrow a horse but is again turned down.
Why Does Einar Yell at Thorfinn?
Thorfinn doubts that Einar should immediately ask Ketil for a horse since he believes that doing so will simply enrage the other farmhands. Einar won’t let this go because he thinks a horse is necessary to plough and work the land. When he realises that this is how they would pay for their freedom, he rants at Thorfinn, wondering why he is so unmotivated.
An older man named Sverkel calls them over after overhearing their argument. He offers to lend them a horse in exchange for assistance with his household tasks, such as gathering water, cutting wood, and collecting rocks from the field. With the horse they borrow, Thorfinn and Einar can work their property much more easily.

Who Is Sverkel in Vinland Saga?
Einar responds to the farmhands’ accusations of theft by saying that an elderly guy by the name of Sverkel lent the horse to them. The farmhands initially inform him that no one on the property by that name exists; but, once Einar describes Sverkel’s appearance, they understand that he is referring to the “old master.” They assert that since the “old master” is Ketil’s father and the foremost figure on the farm, there is no way he could have loaned them a horse.
When Einar finds out that Thorfinn has no farming experience, he is shocked. As they frequently trained to be warriors, Thorfinn notes that no one in his hometown owned farms. Einar can use a borrowed horse and plough to show Thorfinn the fundamentals of farming.
Who Do Thorfinn and Einar Find Asleep at Sverkel’s?
After they awkwardly wait outside Sverkel’s cabin for Ketil to leave, he invites them inside to wash their clothes. Thorfinn and Einar come upon Snakes resting in the back while looking for the washbasin.
Snake and Sverkel reprimand each other throughout the supper that the group shares. Snake admits that the amount of robbers they encounter is just too great for him to handle alone. He is confident that they would be unable to defeat an attack from too many individuals at once. Sverkel is sceptical that that will happen, though, given how much food Ketil brings the king each year and the king’s duty to protect them.

Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 6 Ending Explained
Thorfinn and Einar leave after dinner while Snake departs for watch duties. Thorfinn tells Einar with affection that he has recently learnt a lot.
After some time, we can see that Thorfinn and Einar’s field has expanded. When Einar accidentally refers to Thorfinn as his friend when they are planting seeds, Thorfinn assures him that it is fine because they are friends.
Like Thorfinn, the audience gained a lot of knowledge from this episode. There is a lot more internal turmoil and drama than I anticipated because the dynamics on the farm aren’t as clear-cut as they appear. I had no idea we would spend so much time at Ketil’s farm, but I’m really liking where Thorfinn’s narrative is going. We saw him develop as a warrior in the first season, but not much else. This is the complete opposite, and it’s been fascinating to observe how his maturation has changed the plot.
