The young victim, below 16 years old, was left distraught after the assault took place in an online “room” with several adult male users. While no physical harm was inflicted, she suffered psychological and emotional trauma similar to real-life rape victims. Officers from the UK National Police Chiefs’ Council have expressed concerns over metaverse-related crimes, emphasizing the need for laws and tactics to tackle offenders exploiting VR technology for child abuse and exploitation.
