Tragedy Unfolds as 10-Year-Old Arrested for Murdering Another Child in Northern California

In a shocking incident in Northern California, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 10-year-old child on a murder charge for allegedly shooting another 10-year-old, who tragically succumbed to the injuries. The incident unfolded on Saturday afternoon when authorities responded to a shooting call and discovered an unresponsive juvenile bleeding from the head and neck. The alleged shooter, also a 10-year-old, reportedly took a gun from his father’s vehicle, boasting about it before firing a fatal shot at the victim.

The Tragic Sequence of Events

The harrowing incident transpired when the accused child retrieved a firearm from his father’s vehicle while purportedly seeking cigarettes. The young perpetrator, in a disturbing turn of events, bragged about his father’s gun and callously shot the victim once.

Following the shooting, the accused fled into a nearby apartment. Law enforcement promptly arrived at the scene, detaining individuals within the building. Among those detained was Arkete Davis, 53, identified as the father of the alleged shooter.

Despite the turmoil, officials from the sheriff’s office performed CPR on the injured 10-year-old until the Sacramento Metro Fire Department arrived. Despite their attempts, the victim died after being transferred to a nearby hospital. The accused 10-year-old was apprehended and brought to the Sacramento County Youth Detention Facility, where he was charged with murder.

Legal Ramifications for Father and Son

In a startling twist to the tragedy, Arkete Davis, the father of the alleged shooter, also faced legal consequences. Davis was arrested and taken to the Sacramento County Main Jail on multiple felony firearms charges.

These charges included carrying a stolen, loaded firearm in a vehicle, child endangerment, and accessory after the fact. With a bail set at $500,000, Davis is scheduled for a court appearance on January 3.
