Arrests Made in Connection to Kidnapping and Homicide

Colombian officials announced the incarceration of two men and a woman on charges of aggravated kidnapping and homicide in the case of Tou Ger Xiong. The suspects who reportedly met the charges with denial during a hearing now face legal proceedings.

A minor admitting involvement in the crime, has also been charged and transferred to a specialized detention center for minors. The Prosecutor’s Office is intensifying efforts to bring justice to those responsible for Xiong’s tragic death.

The U.S. Embassy in Bogota had previously issued a warning about criminals in Colombia using dating apps to exploit and harm victims. This comes amid a series of suspicious deaths with Xiong being the latest victim targeted through online platforms.

Xiong’s Tragic Journey and Demands for Ransom

Tou Ger Xiong, a Hmong American comedian sharing his personal story against racial discrimination arrived in Medellín as a tourist. The Colombian forensic science institute revealed signs of violence concluding that Xiong died from injuries caused by a blunt object.

The Prosecutor’s Office reconstructed the events, detailing Xiong’s captivity in an apartment where he endured torture, beatings and was stripped of belongings. Captors demanded thousands of dollars in ransom leading to a tragic end despite immediate payments from Xiong’s family and a friend in the U.S.
