Following a multi-day manhunt, Francisco Oropesa, the suspect in an “execution-style” shooting spree that left 5 people dead in Cleveland, Texas, was apprehended Tuesday evening, according to authorities.
According to San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers, Oropesa, 38, was taken into custody without violence and injury at a residence in Montgomery County, some twenty miles from Cleveland.
Capers stated at a press conference that the accused was “found hidden in a closet under the laundry.”
Chief Deputy Sheriff Tim Kean stated, “I think he assumed he was in a safe place.”
At a press conference on Wednesday, San Jacinto County District Attorney Todd Dillon revealed that Oropesa’s wife had also been arrested at the location where the accused was discovered.
According to Dillon, Divimara Nava reportedly gave “him financial support and support — food, clothes — and provided transportation to this house.” She is accused of obstructing the capture of a known offender.
He claimed that a companion who was a second suspect was detained in San Jacinto County.
