The far-right organization is in a state of disarray, and its members are at each other’s throats as a result of the conviction of many Proud Boys leaders for seditious conspiracy and the 22-year prison sentence given to longstanding leader Enrique Tarrio.
Reeve: There are no longer significant national rallies
This is the opinion of CNN correspondent Elle Reeve, who covered the Unite the Right incident in Charlottesville in 2017 and mostly reports on these organizations.
What is the current situation with the Proud Boys now that their former leader and other key members are facing significant jail time? said anchor Jake Tapper.
In a report from Raw Story, there are no longer significant national rallies, Reeve added. Instead, the majority of what you see are minor protesting drag queens. It represents a significant change from opposing Antifa and appears to be an attempt to remain relevant. Additionally, there is a great deal of conflict over whether to admit white nationalists. So when one Proud Boy learned that others in his group had white nationalist tattoos, he called me in great anguish. The fact that Proud Boys portray themselves as a fun drinking club where everything is simply a joke, and these phrases are not a joke, really destroys the attraction in the larger cultural context.

One of the Proud Boys declared he had had enough with spreading lies
Do you believe that seditious conspiracy charges against Trump will prevent these far-right organizations or Trump supporters from staging another uprising similar to the one on January 6th? Tapper asked. Do you consider it important?
“I think it really matters in the other manner,” Reeve said in response. Because many of these far-right organizations believed Trump had their back before January 6th. And among the people I spoke with, that vanished when he chose not to pardon the rioters from January 6. So everybody who shows up in opposition to him today, they claim, is a sucker. You witnessed this in court when one of the Proud Boys declared he had had enough with spreading lies against me on behalf of others, reports from Le Monde.
